Chile’s Tres Valles Mining Company obtains environmental approval to extend its operations until 2040

Chile’s Tres Valles Mining Company (CMTV) and U.S.-based parent company Global Critical Resources (GCR) are pleased to announce that CMTV’s environmental impact declaration for the Tres Valles Mining Operational Continuity Project has been approved by Chile’s environmental authority.

This approval allows CMTV’s mining operations to continue until 2037, with an additional three-year period allocated to the implementation of the final mine closure plan, extending the Project’s overall timeline to 2040.

CMTV’s ongoing operations will continue to generate jobs and contribute to regional economic development, while enabling the continuation of CMTV’s purchase of third-party ore from small and medium-scale miners. CMTV’s underscores its commitment to remain in strict compliance with Chile’s environmental regulations, respecting Chile’s natural ecology and the potential impact of operations on the mine’s surrounding communities.

Sebastián Cortés, CMTV General Manager, stated:

“We sincerely thank authorities and our neighbors in the southern Coquimbo region for their support throughout this process. This approval allows us to continue work at our leading copper operation, with a focus on the Papomono mine and our integrated processing plant, producing high-grade copper cathodes. Furthermore, it will help strengthen the hiring of our predominantly local workforce and contribute to the region’s economic development.”

Cevdet Caner, GCR Executive Chairman, stated:

“One of the bedrock pillars of GCR is our commitment to responsible mining on a global basis. We seek to become the first critical minerals company to fully integrate sustainable practices into every step of our operations, which we’ve done at CMTV since taking over the company in 2025. I congratulate the team at CMTV for their tremendous accomplishment.”
